We of the Lakeport church of Christ try to maintain strict adherence to New Testament principles. God expected obedience of the Jews under the law of Moses:
“You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.” Deuteronomy 4:2 NASB
Likewise, He expects obedience from His disciples under the Law of Christ:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 NASB
We also try to remember that strict adherence to a set of rules means nothing if we do not have love.
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. 1 Cor. 13:1-3 NASB
So our struggle, as well as any person’s, is to walk that line between a pharisaical lack of heart, and a modern lack of works. This can only be accomplished through a constant study of God’s Word. So we hope that if you are ever in the area that you will stop by to study with us. If you have any questions regarding what you see on this site, or something that you have seen in the Bible, we hope that you will email or call us. We are always open to discussing God’s Word.
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in
